Sex Offenders in My Area

  1. Enter your address or PIDN number on the HOME page in the Explore LINK-GIS Maps box. The Link-GIS viewer page will open, displaying the map.
  2. Hover on the globe in the gray box titled LINK-GIS (when hovering over it reads Map Information) in the drop down menu click on Sex Offenders. A widget will open on the right side of the screen, displaying a list of current sex offenders.
  3. Use the zoom slider on the left side of the map to rescale the map view of your community. Look for yellow diamonds symbolizing the location of the sex offenders.
  4. Hover the curser over the yellow diamond, a fly out opens with a link. For more information on the offender click the View Offender Details highlighted in green. You will then see another web page open linking you to the Kentucky State Police sex offender registry.
  5. If you do not see any yellow diamonds in your area of extent, repeat the zoom out process in step 3 to increase the extent of the map.
  6. If you know the name of an offender you can navigate to the widget titled Sex Offenders on the right side of the map, and use the scroll bar on the right side of the box. Click on the name of the offender and the map will zoom to the sex offender’s current known location.
  7. To minimize the widget, click on the green arrow in the top right of the widget. 
  8. To close the widget, click the ‘x’ in the top right corner.
