Draw

  1. In the LINK-GIS Map Viewer, hover on the blue cube in the gray box titled LINK-GIS. When hovering over it reads “Tools.”
  2. In the drop down menu click on the “Draw” tool. A widget will open on the right side of the screen that is titled “Draw.”
  3. There are six different drawing options to choose from. The drawing option that is selected will be shown on the ride hand side of the gray box titled LINK-GIS. 
  4. The first option is “Draw Point.” Click once on the “Draw Point” icon, and then choose the color for the points in the “Color” menu.  Change the size of the points in the “Size” text box by using the arrows or typing in a number (50 is the maximum size). Left click on the map to draw a point.
  5. The second option is “Draw Line.” Click once on the “Draw Line” icon, and then choose the color for the line in the “Color” menu.  Change the size of the line thickness in the “Size” text box by using the arrows or typing in a number (50 is the maximum thickness). Left click on the map to draw the beginning of a line. Every click will add another node to the line. Double click to finish drawing the line.

The third option is “Draw Freehand Line.” Click once on the “Draw Freehand Line” icon, and then choose the color for the line in the “Color” menu.  Change the size of the line thickness in the “Size” text box by using the arrows or typing in a number (50 is the maximum thickness). Left click and hold down the mouse button while drawing the line on the map. The line will finish drawing when the mouse button is depressed.
  7. The fourth option is “Draw Polygon.” Click once on the “Draw Polygon” icon, and then choose the color for the polygon in the “Color” menu. Left click on the map to draw the beginning of a polygon. Every click will add another node to the line. Double click to finish drawing the polygon.
  8. The fifth option is “Draw Freehand Polygon.” Click once on the “Draw Freehand Polygon” icon, and then choose the color for the polygon in the “Color” menu. Left click and hold down the mouse button while drawing the polygon on the map. The polygon will finish drawing when the mouse button is depressed.
  9. The sixth option is “Draw text.” Click once on the “Draw Text” icon, and then choose the color for the text in the “Color” menu.  Change the font size of the text in the “Size” text box by using the arrows or typing in a number (50 is the maximum size). Type the desired text in the Text entry box. Left click on the map to place the text.
  10. The draw widget offers the ability to view the distance of lines drawn and area of polygons drawn. Click the triangle ruler icon in the upper right hand corner of the Draw widget. Turn on “Show Measurements” by clicking on the check box. A check shown means the “Show Measurments” setting is turned on. Choose the unit of distance to be shown in the “Distance Units” drop down menu. Choose the unit of area to be shown in the “Area Units” drop down menu.
  11. Return to the draw options, by clicking on the pen icon in the upper right hand corner of the Draw widget. Any new lines or polygons drawn will show measurement units. Any lines or polygons drawn before the measurement display setting is turned on will not show the measurements.
  12. Clear all the features drawn by clicking on the recycle container icon on the right hand side of the draw options.
  13. To minimize the widget, click on the green arrow in the top right of the widget. 
  14. To close the widget, click the ‘x’ in the top right corner.  This will turn the drawn features off in the map.  Opening the widget back up will re-draw the features from the current session, unless the user presses the Clear button or ends the My Community Viewer session.
